State police say the number of denials issued during firearm background checks was around seven percent over the last three months.
The Pennsylvania Instant Check System is used to see if a person is legally allowed to buy a firearm. During the second quarter this year, there were over 243,000 background checks. Just over 3,400 came back with denials.
Of that number, 24 had an active warrant for their arrest.
