Norma Jean Jones, 85, of Butler, PA, passed away into the loving arms of the Lord on September 24, 2024, at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Norma was born on October 4, 1938, to the late Clifford and Frances (Frenchtal) Parker.
Norma graduated from Butler High School in 1956. She worked as a Sales Clerk for K-Mart for 27 years, until retiring in 1997. Norma’s heart was in service to the Lord Jesus Christ. She taught the nursery class for 40 years at Trinity United Presbyterian Church, where she was also an elder, and sang in the choir. Later in life, she became a member of Muddy Creek Presbyterian Church, where she was also an elder, made cookies for children’s ministries, and sang in the choir. she served in the Butler-Beaver Presbytery as a delegate to the PC (USA) General Assembly, as well as in the Committee on Preparation for Ministry. Norma also served as a Girl Scout Leader, PTA President, and was often seen supporting the Boy Scouts with her husband.
Norma is survived by her son, Clyde (Cheryl) Jones, III.; her daughter, Frances Smith; her grandchildren, Linda Smith and William (Haley) Smith; her great-grandchildren, Michael Smith, Wesson Smith, and Rocky Smith; her extended family, Bill and Rita Perkins; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Clyde “Tom” Jones, Jr., whom she married on April 8, 1957, and who passed away on December 5, 2014; her brother, Clifford Parker; her sisters, Mary Decker and Alice Koehler; and her nephew, Evan Decker; her brother-in-law, Dalton Weyand; and her sister-in-law, Becky Weyand.
Friends will be received on Friday, September 27, 2024, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, and from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA 16001.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Muddy Creek United Presbyterian Church, 341 Muddy Creek Drive, Butler, PA 16001, with Pastor Matthew Kail officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Muddy Creek Children’s Ministries, 341 Muddy Creek Drive, Butler, PA 16001; or the Mt. Chestnut Food Bank, 727 West Old Route 422, Butler, PA 16001.
