Charles R. “Chuck” Fleming, 84, a lifelong Foxburg resident, passed away into the arms of his heavenly father surrounded by his loving family late Saturday morning, September 28, 2024 following a brief illness.
Charles was born in Foxburg on August 14, 1940. He was the son of the late John and Myrtle Stalker Fleming.
He was a graduate of Emlenton High School. In his earlier years, Charles attended the Foxburg United Methodist Church. He was retired from Penreco in Karns City.
Chuck was a kind and gentle man of few words who had earned the affection and admiration of all who knew him. He loved nature, walking in the woods, and riding the bicycle trail. Chuck loved sitting on his deck watching the deer gathering under the apple trees. In his younger years, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Chuck was always an early riser and enjoyed getting up on cold winter mornings to work on jigsaw puzzles. He is survived by his wife, Judy Ganoe Fleming, whom he married at the Clintonville United Methodist Church on February 14, 1970. Also surviving are two sons, Christopher Fleming and his wife, Shelly, of Emlenton and Stephen Fleming and his wife, Amanda, of Saxonburg. Chuck was the very proud grandfather of Madelyn, Carter, and Emma, to whom he was affectionately “Grandpa Chuck” and “Pop”. He is additionally survived by a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and his beautiful little rescue poodle, “Peppermint Patty.” He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, John, Harry, Gene, James, and Ronald; a sister, Norma, and a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Memorial Church of Our Father Episcopal in Foxburg, with the Rev. Geoffrey Wild, church vicar, and the Rev. Dan Myers, a retired United Methodist pastor and family friend, co-officiating. Interment will be in Foxburg Cemetery.
