All Pennsylvania State Senate Democrats have joined forces to protect access to healthcare if President-elect Donald Trump’s were to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
After failing to repeal the ACA during his first term, the President-elect has proposed repealing the ACA once again. By all 22 state senate Democrats want to sign ACA benefits into state law.
This would include protecting coverage for those who have preexisting conditions, prohibiting annual or lifetime limits on insurance policies, and codifying essential health benefits (EHB) into state law.
EHB prevents insurance companies from denying essential care such as:
- ambulatory patient services
- emergency services
- hospitalization
- maternity and newborn care
- mental health and substance use disorder services including behavioral health treatment
- prescription drugs
- rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices;
- laboratory services
- preventive and wellness services and chronic disease management
- pediatric services, including oral and vision care
