Darlene L. (McCormick) Thompson, 84, of Butler, PA, passed away on January 15, 2025, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
She was born on September 5, 1940, in Butler, PA, to the late John W. McCormick and the late Margaret E. (Fehl) McCormick.
Her hobbies included singing, going to the casino, playing the lottery, putting puzzles together, cards, playing scrabble, watching the Hallmark Channel, feeding the hummingbirds, as well as spending time with her loving family. She also enjoyed going to races to watch her husband, David F. Thompson, drive stock car, and bowling in couples league together. Darlene had attended Nixon United Methodist Church, however most recently, Darlene had began to attend Kiski Unity Free Methodist Church.
Darlene is survived by one son: Ronald (Patty) Thompson of Enon Valley, PA; three daughters: Connie (Paul) Sweeney of Butler, PA, Bonnie (Charles) Sarver of West Sunbury, PA, and Donna (Timothy) Musser of Apollo, PA; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law: Margaret McCormick; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, including her “special niece”, Tess Lauteria.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, David F. Thompson, whom she married on December 14, 1956, and who passed away on January 9, 2014; her granddaughter, Laura Sweeney Johnson; as well as her three brothers, Jack, Bob, and Jim.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm, and from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA 16001.
A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 6:00pm on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA, 16001, with Pastor Paul Eckenrode of Kiski Unity Free Methodist Church, of Leechburg, PA, officiating.
A private burial will be held at Butler County Memorial Park.
