Daniel Cuffman, 66, of Renfrew, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2025. Born in Butler on June 17, 1958, Dan was a son of Norma Allen Cuffman and the late Donald Cuffman, Sr.
Dan was a 1977 graduate of Butler High School and attended BC3 and Slippery Rock University. He worked at Armco/AK Steel for 36 years, before retiring in 2017. Baseball was a large part of Dan’s life, and he played for Butler youth teams, Butler High School, and at SRU. He shared his skills and love of baseball as a beloved youth coach for Meridian, East Butler, and Youngstown Class B teams. An avid deer hunter in his younger years, Dan enjoyed many hunting seasons with family and friends at the family camp in Marienville, PA and in Kentucky. He played adult league basketball for many years at the Butler YMCA and BC3. Retirement was good to Dan and he spent many relaxing hours on his fishing boat at Moraine. He enjoyed planning vacations and traveling with his wife to Alaska, Mexico, Florida, and the western US. He was proud of his vegetable garden, enjoyed coffee and wine on the porch, hosted countless pool parties and picnics, and was known for his delicious stuffed peppers. An avid fan of all Pittsburgh sports teams, Dan rarely missed watching a Pirates game.
The family always says Dan never went anywhere that he didn’t run into someone he knew. A friendly man, he was always happy to strike up a conversation with others. He will be deeply missed by those who were fortunate enough to know his generosity and humor.
In addition to his mother, Dan is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Lollie (Lucas) Cuffman; son Zachary (Maci Williams); sister Pam Schmidt; mother-in-law Gayle Lucas; and in-laws Dawne and Steven Skerbetz (Tucker and Natalie), Scott and Stefani Lucas (Malcolm and Simon), and Erin Lucas. He is also survived by loyal friends too numerous to count.
Along with his father, Daniel was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Cuffman Jr., and father-in-law Don Lucas. We smile to think of him reunited with his father and brother.
All services were held privately through SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 NEW CASTLE RD. BUTLER, PA 16001. WWW.SPENCERDGEIBEL.COM.
