Dorothy M. Schontz, 91, of Butler passed away Friday, February 7, 2025 at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born March 5, 1933 in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Tarcha) Wallak.
She was a member of St. Michael The Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church and also a member of the City Democratic Club.
She formally worked at various locations distributing food samples. She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Association, she enjoyed cooking, baking and especially babysitting her grandchildren.
Surviving is her daughter, Cathy (Donald) Pastorius of East Butler, her son, Richard (Connie) Schontz, Jr. of Butler.
Five grandchildren: Kim (Pete) Veltri, Rick A. (Lindsey) Schontz, Donny (Cathy) Pastorius, Marcus (Kyler) Pastorius and Michael (Gretchen) Schontz.
Six great-grandchildren: Amelia, Graham, Savina, Preston, Drew and Bode.
Three sisters: Linda Bowser, Julie (Lenny) Green both of Butler and Joanne Sheptek of MN.
Numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard J. Schontz, they were married February 17, 1950. He passed away June 20, 2018. Also, her brother, John Wallak.
A Funeral Liturgy and Parastas service will be held Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at 11:15 AM. At St. Michael The Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church, 610 Hansen Ave. Lyndora, PA. Rev. Douglas Lorance officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham St. Butler, PA.
