Police are mourning the loss of an officer, who was shot in killed at a York County hospital over the weekend.
Police responded to a hostage situation at UPMC Memorial Hospital Saturday morning.
The suspect was identified as 49-year-old Diogenes Archangel-Ortiz.
He fired multiple shots, injuring three hospital staff members. That led to a shootout with officers. One of the shots hit West York Borough Police officer Andrew Duarte, who died as a result of the shooting.
Ortiz also died in the shootout.
Governor Josh Shapiro has ordered the Commonwealth Flags at half-staff in remembrance of Duarte, who was a 2016 graduate from California University in Pennsylvania.
