Shirley A. Shook, 89, of Butler, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at Hadlow Center for Caring in Jacksonville, FL.
She was born April 28, 1935 in Clay Twp., the daughter of the late George Shanor and Violet (Thompson) Deal.
Shirley attended First Baptist Church, where she was known for her beautiful solos. She had a career in retail, working at Zales and in the jewelry department of JCPenney. She was also a member of the Sweet Adelines Greater Harmony Chapter, where she performed in one of their quartets, sharing her love for music with others.
Surviving are her children, Connie L. (Stan) Pakutz of Butler; Robert W. Shook of Roanoke, VA, and Suzanne E. Shook of Butler; her grandchildren, Jessie Fitzgerald, Kerri Bryer, Brian Pakutz, and Brian Shook; eight great-grandchildren; a half sister, four sisters-in-law; and three brothers-in-law.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Albert Robert Shook, who passed away on February 6, 2016. She was also preceded by three sisters and six brothers.
Family and friends will be received at Young Funeral Home, Ltd., 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, on Friday, February, 28, 2025, from 2-4 & 6-8PM.
Services will be held at First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., Butler, on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 11AM, with Pastor Dave Maitland officiating.
Private burial in the West Sunbury Union Cemetery.
