The Knoch boys basketball team kept their post-season alive following a 72-54 victory over Elizabeth Forward last night in Saxonburg. Jackson Bauman led the Knights with 22 points. Knoch will get a rematch with section-rival Deer Lakes Wednesday, with the winner of that game earning the final WPIAL Class 4A state playoff spot. Knoch and Deer Lakes split their regular-season section games.
In the Class 4A girls semifinals – Oakland Catholic defeated North Catholic 57-29 last night. The Trojanettes have clinched a PIAA playoff berth. They will host Elizabeth Forward in the third-place consolation game Wednesday.
Tonight-the Mars girls travel to Thomas Jefferson in the third-place consolation game for Class 5A. Tip-off is 7pm. Both teams have already clinched a state playoff spot.
The Mars boys will meet Peters Township tonight in the Class 5A semifinals. Tip-off is 7pm at Moon high school.
New Castle and Upper St. Clair will meet in the WPIAL boys Class 6A championship game this Friday night at the Petersen Events Center. New Castle defeated Mt. Lebanon 67-56 in their semifinal game last night. Upper St. Clair defeated Central Catholic 59-39 in the other semifinal.
