During what police officers called a peaceful protest this past weekend, a Butler man not affiliated with the protests was arrested.
On Saturday, protesters at Diamond Park called Butler City Police shortly after 1 p.m. for an individual causing a disturbance and laying across the road.
According to charging documents, when officers arrived on scene 33-year-old George Cedano Jr. began approaching in an aggressive stance. But, as he was crossing the street he was hit by a truck. He then got back up and resumed an aggressive stance and started yelling. Cedeno was then tased by police and taken into custody.
Local Democratic leaders say that Cedano was not affiliated with the protest and they asked Cedano to leave before police were called.
He has been charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct and placed in the Butler County Prison on $25,000 bail as he awaits a preliminary hearing on March 24.
