Crews were on the scene of a fire this morning in Connoquenessing Township.
The fire started around 7 a.m. this morning on Evans City Road, near Connoquenessing Elementary School.
Firefighters say a large shed caught on fire in the backyard of the property and became fully involved.
“The homeowner had a somewhat controlled burn near an out-building. It’s very windy and the fire blew into the building and off she went,” Mike Danna, chief of the Connoquenessing Volunteer Fire Department said. “It’s pretty cluttered [in the yard] but we got to it.” Mike Danna is the chief of the Connoquenessing Volunteer Fire Department.
Danna described the building as a larger shed building with a “pretty good footprint.” He also said there was an explosion that may have involved a propane tank.
Firefighters set up in the parking of the school in order to fight the flames. The Butler Area School District is on spring break, so there is no school today.
No one was injured in the fire and it was brought under control in 20 minutes.
