Nathan Robert Lowry, 42, of Butler, passed on to his heavenly eternity on Monday, May 12, 2025.
Born July 1, 1982, in Erie, Pa., he was the elder son of Robert and Christine Schley Lowry.
Nathan lived a life of giving to others. His strong Catholic faith inspired him to assist people in any way
possible.
He was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, and the Secular Franciscan
Order, which engages in apostolic work and various ministries, with a particular outreach to the poor and
marginalized, and a focus on peace, justice and care of creation.
He previously volunteered at Gospa Missions, the St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank, and the Salvation
Army.
He was also a weekly adorer at the St. Michael Adoration Chapel, and he regularly visited patients in
nursing homes.
His favorite prayer was the Divine Mercy, which he prayed daily, always ending with “Jesus, I trust in
You.”
Nathan was educated at the University of Scranton, where he played soccer, and he continued his studies
at the University of Pittsburgh.
While he spent time in many occupations, he always ended up with a vocation of helping others.
He also was a gifted pianist whose caring nature brought joy to all he encountered.
Nathan is survived by his loving parents, Robert and Christine Schley Lowry, of Butler; his sister Annie
Lowry Young and her husband, Colin, of Ashburn, Va.; his brother, Sean Lowry and his wife, Laura, of
Mars; four nephews, Blaise Young (Nathan’s godson), Lachlan Young, Maxwell Lowry, and Cole
Lowry; his paternal grandmother, Barbara McClure, of Erie; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Nathan's deceased maternal grandparents were George and Mercedes Schley, and his late paternal
grandfather was Robert M Lowry, Sr.
Family and friends will be received in the Martin Funeral Home, Downtown, 201 E. Cunningham St.,
Butler, on Friday, May 16, from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 17, at 10 a.m. at All Saints Parish, St.
Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler, with Rev. Kevin C. Fazio officiating.
A reception will follow.
