Congressman Mike Kelly says he is trying to reform updates to prior authorization as part of Medicare.
Kelly reintroduced a bill that he says would help modernize the prior authorization process.
The bill would establish an electronic authorization process for Medicare Advantage plans, including a standardization for transactions and clinical attachments.
According to Kelly, the current process uses faxes and phone calls and prevents medical care from being administered in a timely manner.
The bill has bipartisan support.
