It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Richard “Rich” E. McClure, 80, of Chicora, beloved dad, grandfather and friend. Rich left this world on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Quality Life Services in Chicora. He was born in Sarver on October 22, 1944, to the late Martin and Jean (Muller) McClure, Rich graduated in 1963 from Freeport High School, he then went to Naval boot camp in San Diego, CA. After bootcamp Rich was stationed aboard the USS Oklahoma from 1964 to 1966, where he honorably served in the Vietnam War; Japan from 1966 to 1967, then to Reykjavík, Iceland until 1969. Rich was then stationed at the Navy Annex in Arlington, VA until his honorable discharge in 1972. Rich was employed at the Post Office in Fredrick, MD until 1974, and then went to work for the Bulk Mail Center in Warrendale and worked there until his retirement.
Father of Rebecca McClure, Melissa (Chad) Watterson, Katie (Kirk) Bergbigler and Rich McClure Jr; grandfather of Zackery and Xavier Horstman, Greg (Sunny) and Elizabeth Watterson; brother of David McClure; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Rich was preceded in death by his siblings; Yvonne Ross, Arlene Kniess, Dianne Shaw, Damond and Don McClure. All services were held privately through SPENCER D.
