A Butler Township event last month continues to help a local organization provide for kids in need.
At their Monday night meeting, the Butler Township Commissioners presented a check to the Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation with $6,000 in proceeds from their 3rd annual Guys Who Grill event.
Audray Muscatello Yost was on hand to accept the donation on behalf of the foundation, saying the money will be used to help pay for the $10,000 to $12,000 needed each month to support the Kids Weekend Backpack Program.
The organization fed over 400 students per weekend last year buying food items from food banks and discount retailers. Volunteers are welcome to assist in the effort each Tuesday morning.
