An event later this week in Cranberry aims to give hundreds of bicycles to local children.
The United Way is sponsoring its annual “Build-a-Bike” event this Wednesday in the Cranberry Township Community Park Jaycee Shelter.
During that time, 20 teams of United Way staff and volunteers will build 10 bikes each that will be distributed to kids in Butler and surrounding counties through partner agencies. Every bike will be inspected by a bike safety expert as well as also include a helmet and lock.
There will also be other United Way “Build-a-Bike” programs in Allegheny and Westmoreland Counties later this week with a goal of 600 bikes total to be donated.
