Gas prices have dropped substantially both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of yesterday, decreased by 13 cents to $3.43 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole dropped by nine cents to reach $3.41. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Brookville at $3.12, while the most expensive is in Mercer at $3.67.
The average national gas price actually increased by a penny over the past week to $3.15. The demand for gas increased but oil prices remain relatively low due to an abundance of supply.
