As sports fans get ready for tonight’s high school football playoff games, some schools may only accept cards as payment for tickets.
Now, a new law will mandate schools and the PIAA accept cash at all school-sponsored events.
The bill was signed into law this week by Governor Josh Shapiro.
Advocates say it’s unfair, especially to seniors, to exclusively accept only one type of payment for sporting events. They also cite security concerns with online ticket purchases.
The PIAA recently rescinded its card-only policy after the legislation started gaining traction in Harrisburg.
