Customers of Columbia Gas will see a rate increase next year, but the final number will be lowered than requested.
The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission approved the rate hike, but it will be 6 percent instead of the proposed 12 percent.
The average customer will see their bill rise from $17 per month to $23. Columbia was looking to increase that number to nearly $32.
Columbia Gas provides service to 26 counties in Pennsylvania, including some communities in Butler.
