A program to help veterans at Slippery Rock University will continue thanks to a federal grant.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs will contribute over $76,000 towards the Storm Harbor Equestrian Center.
The grant allows SRU to enhance programs that promote independence, well-being and quality of life for veterans, with a particular focus on their mental health.
Before receiving the grant, the center hosted 50-60 veterans per month from Butler and four surrounding counties but now the grant will allow Storm Harbor to accommodate more than 80 per month.
