Lawmakers in Harrisburg are continuing the effort to better regulate Artificial Intelligence in an effort to hold high standards.
As more people turn to A.I. for counseling services, a proposed bill being circulated would require A.I. companies to hold the same professional standards as a human therapist.
Therapists have to follow strict ethical guidelines and have valid licensing or certifications that follow state law.
Lawmakers argue in the bill’s memo, that this legislation would provide safeguards to counseling patients and “guarantee that a human therapist stays the primary provider of counseling services.”
The bill has been referred to the House Professional Licensure Committee.
