A Butler man is in the Butler County Prison after he allegedly strangled a woman in Butler Township.
Police were called to a home last Sunday for a domestic incident.
When officers spoke with the victim, she accused 36-year-old Patrick Mellon of putting her in a chokehold while putting up Christmas decorations. The victim said she started to lose consciousness.
Charging documents say Mellon was under the influence.
Mellon has been charged with strangulation, simple assault, and harassment. He is being held in the Butler County Prison on $80,000 as he awaits a preliminary hearing.
