A police officer suffered a severe injury while responding to an accident yesterday afternoon.
As the snow began to fall just after noon yesterday, several accidents happened throughout Butler County.
State police were responding to a crash on the Route 422 exit from the northbound lane of I-79 around 2 p.m.
That’s when a trooper was hit by a vehicle and was injured. Dispatchers say the trooper suffered a broken foot and had a tourniquet applied. The injury was described as serious and the trooper was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital.
The trooper is currently in stable condition. The driver stayed on scene after the accident.
