Joan A. (Sallach) Schnur, 96, of Butler passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at New Haven Court. She was born in Pittsburgh on October 14, 1929 to the late Carl and Sarah (McCutcheon) Sallach. Joan graduated from Wilkinsburg High School on May 27, 1947. She worked for the South Butler School District, the Butler County Courts and the Butler Post Office from which she retired in 1996.
Joan enjoyed crossword puzzles, decorating for Christmas, traveling, golfing, bowling, playing cards and going to the casinos. She loved attending concerts, plays and dancing. Joan was a great baker and her apple dumplings were legendary. She was a talented artist, working in charcoal and oils. She was an excellent seamstress and all-around crafter.
Joan was a past member of the PSEA, the Saxonburg Women’s Club, the Coast Guard Aux (Butler) and several 500 Bridge Clubs.
Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was smart, funny and had an endless joie de vivre with an impeccable sense of style.
Joan was the beloved wife of Lloyd Schnur; mother of Bruce (Cathy) Graham, Wendy (John Rickard) Graham and Scott (significant other, Maryann Stepanian) Graham; stepmother of Lori (Tom) Maihle; grandmother of Megan (Torrie) Comunale, Emily (Luke Haffely) Graham, Amy (Brian) Satterthwaite, Chris Schnitzki and numerous step-grandchildren; great grandmother of Nora and Graham and numerous step great grandchildren.
Along with her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert and Carl Sallach.
Joan’s family wishes to thank New Haven Court and Hope Hospice for their dedicated and loving care in her last year.
