Butler County is working through the process of updating their hazard mitigation plan.
The county is required to update the plan every five years in order to be eligible for federal emergency funding.
The county is receiving up to $75,000 to help develop the plan; it does require a $25,000 match, which can come via in-kind contributions.
The plan is necessary to access FEMA funding.
The commissioners also say they are working on collaborating with different municipalities, especially with the recent collaboration on stormwater mitigation in southwestern Butler County.
