Evans City Borough has delayed the approval of a preliminary design for a major road project along Route 68.
According to Evans City, the current culvert that sits on Route 68 (West Main Street) above the Breakneck Creek is “in critical condition and is not surrounded by proper backfill, making the road above less stable.”
On December 18th, the borough received $300,000 in DCED funding to begin working with PennDOT, the Pennsylvania Railroad, and the Evans City Water and Sewer Authority on improvement plans.
But due to having to wait for permitting approval and engineers investigating the issues, approval of the plan was delayed.
Around 16,000 vehicles cross this stretch of road daily.
