Joseph Thomas Montanez, 41, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly on April 4, 2026, from a heart attack while helping a friend repair a car. Born on June 29, 1984, Joseph was a devoted son, brother, and friend whose kindness and willingness to lend a hand touched everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Janet (Taylor) Elder; his sisters, Debbra Ryan (Elder) and Theresa Beckel; and other loved ones.
Joseph is survived by his father, Jose Montanez; his brothers, Jose L. Montanez, Jose E. Montanez, and George “Bud” Elder III; and his sister, Sonya Montanez. He also leaves behind many extended family members, friends, and those who cherished his generous spirit.
A loving and helpful man, Joseph will be remembered for his big heart and the way he showed up for others without hesitation. His sudden passing has left a profound void in the lives of all who loved him.
