A long-vacant lot in downtown Slippery Rock is now set for development.
The grassy corner of Main and New Castle Street has been vacant since the former NexTier Bank building was torn down years ago.
Great Living LLC has come to an agreement to purchase the land and construct a multi-use building.
“It’s a marquee corner in Slippery Rock,” Jerry Oliver of Great Living LLC said. “Council and Mayor Longo have been great through this whole process. We’re very excited.”
Company officials say they are planning a two-to-three story building, that has a mix of retail, office space, and potentially residential.
“We want to get it right. We want a design that compliments downtown,” Oliver said.
He said that he anticipates regional and national retailers inside the building.
Ground isn’t expected to break until late 2027 or early 2028.
