Gas prices continue to inch down both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of yesterday, dropped by two cents to reach $4.79 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole dropped by seven cents to reach $4.69. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Greensburg at $4.47, while the most expensive is in Oil City at $4.90.
The average national gas price dropped by two cents over the past week to $4.49 which is 40 cents more than a month ago and $1.32 more since last year. Gasoline demand increased over the holiday while the price of oil fell to around $98 a barrel.
