Raymond L. Collins, 84, of Butler, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Newhaven Court at Clearview.
Born March 24, 1942, in Butler, he was a son of the late Raymond J. Collins and Marie Hilliard Collins.
Ray retired in 2004 from the Butler Area School District, where he was employed in the Maintenance Department. He previously worked at Western Auto.
He was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.
Ray loved to tinker with tools and machinery. He worked to maintain his oil wells, and he enjoyed attending the Portersville steam engine shows and walking at Moraine State Park.
He is survived by four children, Laurie Confer, Sue (Jeff) Carr, Michael (Ana) Collins, and Christopher (Mindy) Collins; eight grandchildren, Matthew (Kristina) Carr, Melissa (Joe) Marburger, Megan Confer, Selena (Will) Foster, Alex (Steph) Collins, Nick Collins, Ethan Collins, and Sydney Collins; and four great-grandchildren, Sophie, Emma, Rosalie, and Leo. Ray was also eagerly awaiting the birth of great-grandson, Cam.
He is also survived by two brothers, Roger (Venita) Collins and Randy (Mark) Collins; three sisters, Marsha Hook, Mary Pat Collins, and Margie Collins; and one sister-in-law, Carol Collins.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his beloved wife and high school sweetheart, Joyce McClafferty Collins, whom he married Aug. 4, 1962, and who passed away Feb. 1, 2023; two brothers, Robert Collins and Richard Collins; and two sons-in-law, Ronald Confer and David Brown.
Friends and family will be received in the Martin Funeral Home Downtown, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, on Sunday, May 31, from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 1, at 10 a.m. at All Saints Parish, St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, with Rev. Kevin C. Fazio officiating.
Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
