George R. Bonnett, 86, of Butler, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.
Born September 21, 1939, in Butler, he was the son of the late Maurice M. and Dorothy L. (Bowser) Bonnett.
George was a graduate of Butler Area Senior High School, and went on to serve his country honorably as a Sgt. in the United States Army Reserve. He made his career at Armco where he was an Inspection Foreman for 37 years until his retirement in 1996. George was a long time member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Butler. He was also actively involved with the Butler Victory Lodge 272, New Castle Consistery, Syria Shrine, Caravan #14, Shrine Luncheon Club, Butler Lions Club, past President of Butler County Meals on Wheels, and a past executive board member of the Butler County Blind Association.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carol J. (Weisenstein) Bonnett, whom he married on August 24, 1963, his daughter-in-law, Kris Bonnett, his grandson, Kagan “KK” Bonnett, and two nieces and two nephews.
In addition to his parents, George was proceeded in death by his son, Steven S. Bonnett and his sister, Martha J. McGinley.
All services for George were held privately and entrusted to Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 E. North St., Butler, PA 16001.
He was laid to rest in North Side Cemetery, Butler, PA.
