The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is beginning summer road project maintenance work around Butler County this week.
These activities include pipe replacement on Kittanning Street in Butler as well as crack sealing along Interstate 79 in Jackson and Cranberry Townships.
Patching will take place on Glen Eden Road in Cranberry Township and Portersville Road in Muddy Creek Township, while mill and fill is planned for Hindman Road in Concord Township, along with Buenavista Road in Fairview Township.
Mowing and shoulder cutting is planned for New Castle Road in Slippery Rock Township and Ellwood City Road in Zelienople Borough, along with Mushroom Mine Road in Winfield Township.
Finally, in Slippery Rock and Muddy Creek Townships, PennDOT officials say there will be paving on Route 422 east and west between the I-79 interchange and just west of Lake Arthur Bridge starting tomorrow (Monday). Crews will need to close the left lane for drainage and paving. This nearly $6 million project is expected to finish in October.
