Republican leaders in Harrisburg have issued a statement that they are encouraged in progress made to reach a budget.
In a joint statement from house and senate Republican leaders say they have been able “to find common ground and put the needs of Pennsylvanians first,” even while the state legislator remains divided.
The statement also calls for a fiscally responsible budget as Governor Shapiro proposed using over $4 billion of the rainy-day fund to balance the budget.
There is also optimism an agreement could be reached soon.
“We are encouraged by the progress made to date and believe a budget agreement can come to fruition in the near future.”
