David R. Barber. 71, of Evans City passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Pittsburgh on May 11, 1955, to Gloria (Halowell) Barber and the late Russell Barber.
David graduated from Baldwin High School and furthered his education at the Rosedale Technical Institute. He held numerous jobs; working for Roessing Bronze, as a tractor trailer driver, in construction as a concrete finisher and foreman, and Soergel Orchards, where he retired as a mechanic after 22 years.
David was a previous member of LU2274 Carpenters Union of Pittsburgh, as a journeyman carpenter and Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed riding his Harleys, watching and feeding the wildlife around his home and boating with friends and family at Moraine on his pontoon boat.
David was known for being thoughtful, very funny, extremely intelligent and mechanically gifted. He could fix anything and could operate most vehicles or heavy equipment. He loved his friends and family, and loved traveling with his wife, Carol.
David was the beloved husband of Carol (Rickenbrode) Barber, whom he married on October 8, 1977; father of Nicholas (Katie) Barber; brother of Sandra (Bernie) Barber Bernert; grandfather of Owen, Graham and Amelia Barber.
The family would like to thank the staff at Butler Hospital, Grove Manor and Jameson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, along with Dr. Julie Le and Angela Como PA at IHS Palliative Care, as well as Dr. Neeta Pathe, Dr. Hugh Shearer, and Dr. Anthony DeMatteo who cared for David through his illness.
