The Butler Township Planning Commission has recommended approval of a plan that would allow for the construction of a new structure adjacent to an existing crematory facility.
Representatives of Spencer Geibel Funeral Home at 140 New Castle Road presented plans to construct an 80 by 40 (3,200) square foot accessory building for maintenance vehicles and storage of materials.
This is next to the crematorium, offices, a garage for funeral home vehicles, and additional overflow parking for the current funeral home that was constructed four years ago.
The new structure will have electricity and plans call for a slight enlargement of the existing stormwater retention pond. Next, the plan will be considered by the Township Commissioners later this month. If given final approval, construction could begin later this year.
