A Butler man has been charged after he assaulted his father with a hammer.
Officers were called to a home in the 100 block of North Road for a fight this past Thursday afternoon.
According to charging documents, the victim saw 31-year-old Timothy Butler using drugs in the garage. An argument broke out and that’s when Butler allegedly punched the victim and hit him with a hammer.
During a search, police found an explosive device inside. A witness told police the device belonged to Butler and he made several threats to burn the victims house and other houses to the ground.
Butler has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, simple assault, and possession of an explosive device.
He’s awaiting a preliminary hearing.
