The downtown Butler community is receiving help from the state and a consulting agency to plan for the future.
At a gathering Monday night, representatives from economic development consultant Fourth Economy spoke about the process of securing Main Street designation from the state.
That process started with receiving a $37,000 planning grant and continues with finding members interested in attending virtual meetings of a Steering Committee over the next four months in order to fulfill state requirements for a five-year plan.
If the group is able to secure an implementation grant, funding could allow for the hiring of a full-time Main Street Manager early in 2027 who would be charged with making the plan a reality.
Additional feedback is also being sought for this project through interviews with consultants as well as public surveys. Anyone interested in participating can contact Butler Downtown or the Butler County Chamber of Commerce.
