John J. “Whiz” Wisniewski, 78, of East Butler, PA, formerly of Vandergrift, PA, passed away August 7, 2026.
He was born on November 13, 1947, in Pittsburgh, PA to Walter Wisniewski and Dorothy (Joseph) Wisniewski.
He graduated from Bishop Canevin High School and Duquesne University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Education. He worked at Allegheny Cold Storage and New Federal Cold Storage.
Whiz was an avid fan of Pittsburgh sports teams and enjoyed coaching Little League. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by son, Ryan (Junelle) Wisniewski of Butler, PA ; daughter, Jennifer Wisniewski of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Isaac, Caleb, and Hadley; brothers, Walt Wisniewski and Frank Wisniewski; sisters, Paula Cass, Mary Luxbacher, Connie Salvayon, Annie Heartland, and Antionette Lyle; brother- in- law, Donald Coco, and sister- in- law, Denise Clark.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Regina (Ann) Wisniewski, and sister, Rose Norris.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday August 11, 2026 from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Thompson -Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 E. North St., Butler, PA 16001.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Wendelin Church – Saint Clare of Assisi Parish, 210 St. Wendelin Rd, Butler, PA 16002, with Father Matt McClain officiating.
An entombment will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Quality of Life Services- Chicora, 160 Medical Center Rd #2612, Chicora, PA 16025.
