Jeannette Lucille “Memaw” Hoover, 88, of Butler, peacefully passed away Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026, at UPMC Horizon.
Born Sept. 15, 1937, in Ontario, Oregon, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd McRae Sr. and Evelyn Coulter McRae.
Jeannette was a homemaker who loved bowling, playing cards, visiting the casino, and dancing.
She was a member of Hill United Presbyterian Church.
Jeannette is survived by three daughters, Lynn “Lynnie” Burkert and her husband, Jeff, of Chicora, Sherrie Heist and her husband, Tim, of Vale, N.C., and Tracie Irwin and her husband, Brad, of Rootstown, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, with a 16th eagerly awaited; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by two sisters, Ella Downing of Payette, Idaho, and Phyllis Brewington and her husband, Frank, of Gresham, Oregon; one brother, Lloyd McRae, Jr. and his wife, Klista, of Baker City, Oregon; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jeannette was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wayne Lewis Hoover, whom she married Nov. 30, 1958, and who passed away March 30, 2015; and one sister, Rose Evans.
Friends will be received at Martin Funeral Home, South Side, 429 Center Ave., Butler, from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 30.
Services will immediately follow at the funeral home at 4 p.m. Sunday.
Interment will take place in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
