The results of the special election were officially certified last week.
The final vote count only changed by one vote, which saw Democrat Brandon Dukes defeat Republican Scott Timko by 98 votes.
Voter turnout for the election was just over 32 percent, with nearly 17,000 people casting a ballot for the election.
The speaker of the house said Dukes would be sworn-in sometime in September.
Dukes and Timko will square off again during the November election.
