Several local organizations will receive federal funding to help Veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless next year.
According to the Butler VA, the Department of Veterans Affairs a total of nearly $45 million will be distributed to 34 community organizations.
Among those receiving funds through the Grant and Per Diem program in Butler County are the Center for Community Resources, the Housing Authority of the County of Butler, and the Veterans Leadership Program of Western Pennsylvania.
These grants can be used for transitional housing with supportive services, transition-in-place housing, and special housing for women or those who are chronically mentally ill, frail, or elderly.
