A Butler man has been charged with sexual assault and incest nearly three decades after the assaults allegedly happened in Penn Township.
Police charged 38-year-old Michael Sparks after being accused of sexually assaulting a minor from 1997 to 2005. The victim and Sparks lived in the same home for 13 years.
According to charging documents, when the victim was five years old Sparks began showing the minor pornographic material and threatening the victim to not tell any adult. He’s also accused of having the minor perform sexual acts.
The assaults continued until the minor was 13-years-old and Sparks was 18-years-old. The minor claims Sparks had sexual intercourse with the minor even after the victim said no. Sparks told the victim if she told her parents about the incident Sparks would punish her.
Sparks is facing several charges including indecent assault of a person less than 16-years-old, statutory sexual assault, and aggravated indecent assault of a person less than 13.
A preliminary hearing date has not been scheduled.
