Only one MLB Wild Card Series has reached a deciding third game. The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Atlanta Braves 4-3 in 10-innings Wednesday afternoon to force a Game 3 in their National League Wild Card Series. The victory came after Bryce Harper missed a fly ball that allowed Atlanta to build a 3-1 lead through six innings. But Harper redeemed himself when he and Kyle Schwarber hit back-to-back home runs in the next inning. Alec Bohm hit a game-winning home run in the top of the tenth.
The two teams will play tonight at 8pm on NBC. Tonight’s winner will travel to Los Angeles Saturday.
The Chicago White Sox swept both games of their series following a 7-3 win in Houston last night. The White Sox will travel to Cleveland Saturday afternoon to begin the Divisional round.
The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox 9-2 to win their series. The Yankees will visit Tampa Bay Saturday evening to begin their American League Divisional Series.
The San Diego Padres defeated the Chicago Cubs 4-1 to win their series. The Padres will visit the Milwaukee Brewers Saturday to begin their Divisional Series.
