During his stop in Butler earlier this week, the Pennsylvania Department of Aging secretary commented on a recent report criticizing his office.
Auditor General Tim DeFoor released a report last month criticizing the aging department, saying vulnerable seniors fall through the cracks and the department is resistant to changes.
At the Butler County Area Agency on Aging, Secretary Jason Kavulich said he is open to criticism and is always seeking to improve.
“I don’t think trading barbs in helpful. What I think about is what are we going to do to get better results. We have the new CAPE system that is almost finished with its first iteration. The system is helping and there are improvements we need to make. But we need constructive and objective input to make those improvements,” Kavulich said.
Kavulich was in Butler earlier this week hosting a round table discussing how the department can improve services, as well as discussing the CAPE system’s overhaul on how local Area Agency’s on Aging are evaluated.
The Butler AAA received high grades in their first evaluation.
