The Public Utility Commission has passed stricter rules over looking to protect Pennsylvanian’s and preserving the electric grid.
By a unanimous vote, the PUC approved a rule that will subject new large loads on the power grid that have not secured the needed demand will be subject to curtailment before other customers.
The new rule will also identify large loads, plans for potential curtailments, prioritize large-load reductions, and strengthen emergency protections.
The tentative order at this point will be posted and interested parties will have 30 days to submit a comment and an additional 15 days for reply to comments before receiving a final order in late January.
