A Butler man has been charged for sexually assaulting a minor in Summit Township earlier this year.
The incident happened back in April when the 13-year-old victim was with another juvenile and 20-year-old Jeffrey Bergbigler.
According to charging documents, while the three were inside the home in Bergbigler’s room, the victim was sitting on Bergbigler’s lap.
That is when it’s alleged Bergbigler placed his hand under the victim’s shirt and attempted to put his hand down the victim’s pants.
The second juvenile was not in the room when this incident happened but did tell police Bergbigler was “showing them how to cuddle” and began touching the victim’s side and legs.
When police spoke with Bergbigler he denied all the allegations and said he never touched the victim.
Bergbigler was charged with indecent assault of a person less than 16-years-old, corruption of minors, and unlawful contact with a minor.
A preliminary hearing date has not been scheduled.
