With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Carl “Bruce” Johnson, who departed this life on October 17, 2026, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh after an extended illness. Born on February 19, 1965, in Lexington, Kentucky, Bruce was a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched all who knew him.
Bruce was the cherished son of the late Deward M. Johnson Sr. and Elizabeth E. Dittman. He was predeceased by his devoted parents, grandparents, and several aunts and uncles who helped shape his life with their love and guidance.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife, Lori (Murray), whom he married on August 19, 2000, and who stood by his side through joys and challenges alike. He was a proud and devoted father to his sons, Zachary A. Johnson and Aaron J. Johnson, both of Slippery Rock. Bruce is also survived by his siblings: Gary Dittman (Kathy) of Chicora, Deward M. Johnson “Junior” (Susan), Catherine Beichner of Butler, and Debra Dunlap (Tim) of Chicora. His legacy is further carried on by numerous nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Bruce.
A graduate of Kittanning High School and Lenape Vo-Tech, Bruce dedicated much of his life to the trade field. He concluded his career as a respected machine operator at Marburger Dairy in Evan City, where his work ethic and dedication were highly valued.
Bruce had a passion for the great outdoors, finding solace and joy in hunting and spending time in nature. Above all, he treasured the moments spent with his family and the companionship of his beloved pets.
Though he has left this world, the warmth of Bruce’s spirit and the love he gave so freely will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.
