Butler County Community College is adjusting their course offerings following a lengthy review process.
As part of their monthly meeting Wednesday afternoon, BC3’s Board of Trustees unanimously approved two motions to discontinue 32 programs, 19 which led to an associates degree and 13 to a certificate.
Although 18 students are currently enrolled in five of the programs, they have been contacted by advisors with teach-out plans that allow for credential completion.
This decision began with a multiyear academic portfolio review and program analysis by the board’s academic assessment committee that looked at factors such as student demand, enrollment and completion trends, workforce and transfer trends, student outcomes, long-term sustainability and fit with the college’s mission.
No layoffs of teachers or staff will occur as a result of these changes. More information about specific affected programs can be found on BC3’s website.
