Butler City Council is expected to consider changes to Rental Ordinance regulations and the property condition report next month.
Councilwoman Lisa Quebedeaux addressed the rest of council about research she has been doing for more than nine months into how Butler can best maintain safe and clean rental properties.
Her proposal includes improving relationships between renters and landlords so that each understands their rights and obligations as well as avenues for remediation.
Quebedeaux also included examples of best practices in rental policies from other third-class cities such as Erie and Lancaster.
Revisions and additions to the ordinance will be discussed at Council’s forum meeting November 5th with the possibility of a vote to expand the property condition report beyond the current fire safety requirements later in November in order to take effect January 1st.
